The Petzl Actik not only gives a lot of light, but is also designed to work in all weather conditions. This head torch has an IPX4 rating, which means it is splash-proof. Perfect for rainy days or snowstorms without having to worry about your head torch not working. Another perk: the lamp is tiltable, ideal for when you want to read some pages of your favourite book inside your tent.

The Petzl Actik in use

The Petzl Actik has three LEDs: 2 white LEDs and one red LED. There are 2 different lenses for the white LEDs: one for a wide beam and one for a focused beam. The brightness can be easily adjusted with the button on top of the torch. The torch has three white light modes:

  • Low (max. burn time): 7 lumens, burn time of approx. 100 hours, 10 metres reach. For this mode, only the 'wide' LED is in use. It's ideal for lighting up small areas around camp or in your tent, for example.
  • Standard: 100 lumens, burn time of approx. 10 hours, 45 metres reach. Both the wide and focused LED are on. This mode is perfect for running or walking in the dark.
  • Max. power: 600 lumens, burn time of approx. 2 hours, 115 metres reach. This mode gives you maximum light output. It's a powerful beam that reaches very far.

The red light has two modes: constant on and flashing. Simply push the button to easily adjust the lighting to your situation. Thanks to these flexible light modes and a maximum range of 115 metres, you can tailor the Petzl Actik to your adventure. You easily lock the torch by holding down the on/off button for 4 seconds. This is great when you carry the torch in your backpack: the torch won't just switch on and leave you with a dead battery.

Petzl Hybrid Concept

The Petzl Actik operates according to Petzl's Hybrid Concept. It runs on the Petzl Core rechargeable battery or three AAA batteries. Say goodbye to frequent battery changes and hello to continuous adventure. When you use three AAA batteries, the head torch has a maximum light intensity of 450 lumens. Each head torch comes with a headband, a storage pouch and three AAA batteries. If you buy the Petzl Actik Core, instead of three AAA batteries you will receive a 1250mAh Petzl Core Ion battery and a micro-USB charging cable. If you put the storage pouch over the torch while it is on, it distributes the light allowing you to use the headlamp as a lantern. With this setup, you are ready to light up the world wherever you go.

History of Petzl

Petzl originated in the 1960s as a manufacturer of excellent climbing gear. Inspired by exploring caves by founder Fernand Petzl since the 1930s, the brand quickly made a name for itself among outdoor enthusiasts worldwide. Petzl pioneered modern climbing by permanently replacing the use of ladders with ropes. In the 1980s Petzl started producing head torches. Petzl quickly became the most popular brand of head torches in the world.
