The **Bark River Bravo 1** was designed for (para)military use, specifically for the U.S. Marine Corps. Soon, however, it became evident that this knife was capable of a whole lot more. Today the Bravo 1 is beloved among bushcraft enthusiasts and hunters. It is solidly constructed, with enough blade thickness for heavy-duty tasks. Perfect for woodworking, gutting game and many other outdoor tasks.

The blade is made from CPM 3V steel, a tool steel that is known for its exceptional strength. It is very hard to break, and also retains its sharpness well. You do, however, need to be careful with moisture and acids: CPM 3V is not completely stainless. Make sure to clean the knife after use and occasionally apply a drop of oil to keep it in great shape. The edge has a convex grind that can be maintained by [stropping](/en/ct/stropping.htm) it.

The handle is made from Deep Blue & Burgundy Maple Burl, a breathtakingly beautiful wood. It is extracted from the root wood of a maple and then stabilized with a red resin. This makes it highly durable as well as attractive. A real eye-catcher. 

The Bark River Bravo 1 comes with a leather belt sheath.

Bark River Knives makes all of its knives almost entirely by hand. This means that each knife is unique. Especially when working with natural materials, a knife may differ from the photos. The knife you receive may therefore be subtly different from the product photos. The model and type of material, however, will always be the same.

Not as advertised, this knife has a ramp like an original Bravo 1, the picture shows a rampless version which is not what arrived. Yet again I find myself having been mislead and disappointed with this company
