The **Case Stockman** is a true classic in the pocket knife world. This pattern is almost as old as the entire category of Traditionals. This Case Stockman is a very pure incarnation of this classic model. It is enhanced with three blades: a clippoint blade as a *main blade*, a 5.4 cm sheepfoot blade and, of course, the almost indispensable Spey blade. This is a spearpoint with a sort of blunt tip. Originally this shape was used to gut game. 

When opened the three blades are kept in place by a slipjoint lock. Because Case uses two lock-springs to keep three blades in place it is inevitable that the blades are located close together and can even touch each other when closed. This is a part of the design of the blade and also gives it, its authentic charm. 

## Case Tru-Sharp SS steel

The blade is made from Case Tru-Sharp SS. This is a stainless type of steel that is similar to 420HC steel. Characterizing about this type of steel is that you can quickly sharpen it and have a razor-sharp knife. 

## Mediterranean Blue Bone handle

The handle is made from *Mediterranean Blue Bone*. This is basically cow bone that is enhanced with a sea-blue colour. As such the whole looks warm and tranquil. A truly classic handle material that fits the Case knives. 

## Case Knives: traditional pocket knives

Case has been producing pocket knives ever since 1889. Each pocket knife is assembled and finished by hand, relatively unique for an American brand. As a result each Case knife is unique. Case knives are incredibly collectible and a great addition to your standard EDC pocket knife. Nice as a gift, for someone else as well as for yourself.

Prachtige aanvulling op de collectie. Traditionele messen in het algemeen en de Stockman in het bijzonder zijn voor mij eigenlijk een 'acquired taste'. Want minder praktisch dan een Victorinox of een modern zakmes dat zich makkelijker laat dragen, sneller laat openen en minder vaak hoeft te worden nageslepen? 

Niettemin heb ik nu 9 Case messen in mijn collectie - waarvan 3 Stockmmans - en het zijn stuk voor stuk juweeltjes. Maar voor wie nog niet eerder een Case mes heeft gekocht: wees bewust dat je de snede hoogstwaarschijnlijk meteen zult moeten bijwerken. Want hoewel ze zichtzelf op de borst kloppen dat hun messen extreem scherp zijn zul je zeer waarschijnlijk meteen ondervinden dat ze slordig geslepen zijn. In sommige gevallen volstaat het om te 'stroppen' maar wil je de messen ook echt als zodanig kunnen gebruiken dan is het bezit van iets als een Lansky Crockstick of een Spyderco Sharpmaker wel een minimale vereiste (ook omdat zowel TruSharp als CV hun scherpte vrij snel verliezen in vergelijking met moderne zakmessen in dezelfde prijsklasse).
