**Dishwasher safe?**  

Eden Quality VG10 knives are as dishwasher safe as all the other kitchen knives. 
An Incidental dishwasher wash-up isn’t harmful, but frequent influence of dishwasher chemicals can damage hardened steel and plastics. This can result in rust spots on the blade and an affected handle. Also, the handles may become loose.  

Therefore we don’t claim that our knives are dishwasher safe! Fortunately we are not the only ones. But there are brands who claim it because of the marketing advantages.

Très bon couteau, finition correcte et bien affuté en sortie de boite. C'est mon premier vrai couteau donc pas de point de comparaison.

Een opmerkelijk mes, is met zijn kwaliteit de topklasse waardig. Relatief wel aan de zware kant. Het is uit de doos scherp maar zeker niet vlijmscherp. Na enkele zéér lichte halen, eigenlijk aaien op de slijpstaaf (Eden) was ie werkelijk poepiescherp en kon een mooi rondje uit de krant worden gesneden, bijna alsof het mes op de Naniwa prof 3000 geslepen was.

Deze santoku is ook bijzonder geslepen, in een hoek van 1°. De laatste 2 cm (18 mm) naar de snede toe is geslepen onder 4°.  Dat maakt het onvermijdelijke uitdunnen in de toekomst erg makkelijk, en zal het dan ook een authentiek uiterlijk gaan geven. Ben dus blij met dit mes.

De slijphoek is overigens 15° en niet 18° zoals K&T vermeldt. Pas na 2 weken veelvuldig gebruik is het ietsjes minder scherp geworden, maar doet zijn werk nog goed genoeg. Licht beurtje op 3000 binnenkort?

Enig minpuntje was dat de uiterste 5 mm van de tip iets teveel was ingeslepen (foutje misschien?). Maar dat is zonodig met een slijpbeurt wel te veranderen.

Ik lijk wel reclame te maken, maar ik vind dit, gezien de prijs, gewoon Kwaliteit, met een hoofdletter!

Dit product overtreft mijn verwachtingen. Ik ben een jarenlange gebruiker van Wusthof Classic koksmessen en wou eens een santuko proberen. Omdat ik niet wist of dit mij zou bevallen wou ik er ook niet teveel geld aan spenderen.

Het mes is vrij scherp geleverd en is van een goede kwaliteit van staal. De prijs-kwaliteitverhouding is voortreffelijk. Het mes zit in ongeveer dezelfde prijscategorie als een Victorinox koksmes, doch het overtreft dit laatste in tienvoud. Eden levert een solide mes, dat goed in de hand ligt. Daar tegenover lijkt het Victorinox koksmes wel een speeltje, of iets dat men in de dollarshop gekocht heeft.

Het mes verliest iets vlugger zijn scherpte als mijn Wusthof chefmes (dit heeft mogelijks met de kleinere slijphoek te maken?), doch is m.i. iets vlugger scherp te krijgen met een (keramisch) wetstaal. Ik denk hier jarenlang plezier van te hebben en hoop dat het harsen handvat van dezelfde duurzaamheid zal blijken dan de Wusthof handvatten.

Ik ga zeker nog Eden keukenmessen bestellen en dit aanraden aan familie en vrienden.
