Full description
The Ontario Bushcraft Field Knife 8696 is a large bushcraft knife, made by Ontario Knives in the United States. In terms of design it slightly resembles the classic Kephard model. And yet the design is different enough to be called unique. The end of the handle is enhanced with an ergonomic protrusion to make sure your hand stays properly in place on the handle.

Let's just get this straight, right from the onset....this is NOT a bushcraft knife! The blade is way too thin and fragile for any woodcrafting, let alone batoning. In fact although the blade is stated as 3.2 mm thickness, it is not, it is in fact 1.9 mm. The tang is 3.2 mm thick. However, that said, it is a fantastic cooking chore knife (about the only thing it excels at) , which is exactly the reason why I bought it. The thin blade is wicked at slicing and its in a stainless steel, so great for food prep of all kinds. The spine is even sharp enough to scrap a ferro rod to light a fire. Fit and finish is okay. I love the long walnut wood handle, however there are some minor imperfections in alignment with the tang. However, this shouldn't be an issue as you would really only use this knife for light work. Blade was very dull out of the box, but sharpened up in no time to a razor edge. Sheath is quite good, but nothing to write home about, and can be used in a MOLLE system. Summary: If you are looking for a serious bushcraft knife, look elsewhere. If you are looking for a good outdoor cooking chore knife, then this might be for you, though a little pricey for what it is. Perhaps an Opinel would be a better choice if you are not interested in a fixed blade.

It has a thin flexible blade. Works really well for slicing tasks. It also has a very comfortable handle. Would also work well as a kitchen knife.
