Having owned and used an Alpha Hunter with rubber grip and a gut hook for over 15 years as essential stalking kit. I never even considered replacing it with any thing else. Its been in constant use for graloching, skinning and butchery work without fail. The gut hook has its uses but skill and experience has shown it to be more of a hindrance than a help. The 440C blade although good needs frequent sharpening, which is actually just a 30 second job. The S30V steel and wood on this the 277 model handles just the same as the old 276, maybe a little bit slippery when you have your hands in there ! but still very fit for purpose. However, the edge keeping is just so much better and it is true to say a sharp knife is a safe knife. That's is why I now own and use this model. To sum up, this is a rather heavy but very robust and well proportioned knife for stalking use and will give a life time of use with minimal maintenance and careful but infrequent sharpening.

Excellent in hand, really top quality finish, and starting to become more difficult to find, hence why i purchased one. Worth the money, excellent knife and pouch,
