The **Cold Steel Kudu 20KK** is a remarkable pocket knife, with strong South-African roots. The large key ring above the pivot stands out. It is a part of the so-called 'ring lock'. By pulling the ring you unlock the lock. Might take some getting used to at first, but when you are used to it, it will be a piece of cake. We noticed that the following technique works best: Place your index finger on the ring, your thumb on the blade and use your middle finger and ring finger to lean against the spine of the handle. Pull your index finger and the knife will unlock.

 To make sure the knife doesn't just close after unlocking it, it is enhanced with a type of serrations. With a couple of noticeable clicks you open and close the blade. As such you always open the knife with two hands.

 The handle is made from Zy-Ex. A strong plastic which offers enough grip thanks to the faux-wood structure. The name Kudu comes from the so-called kudu. An animal that lives in Africa. The blade is adorned with an image of this animal. A steel representation of the horns of this animal was added to the handle. The blade is made from 5Cr15MoV-steel. Simple, tough and stainless. You can easily sharpen it. Nothing more, nothing less.

 The history of this model is quite long. Around 1900 similar knives were already exported from Solingen, Germany to South-Africa under the name of 'okapi'. Especially because of their good price-quality ratio they were incredibly popular. That same great price Cold Steel used for the Kudu.

In termini di qualità/prezzo, sicuramente è il mio coltello preferito. Economico e valido, e con un design che mi ricorda il coltelli tradizionali ottocenteschi. 

Das Kudu 20 KK ist eine Hommage an das Oryx Messer mit Ringlock Das Messer ist wie sein Vorbild ein Alltagswerkzeug. 
Der Mechanismus ist anfangs gewöhnungsbedürftig, das spielt sich jedoch schnell ein. Man kann sicher sein, dass der auffällige Ring bei jüngeren Messerenthusiasten („oh, krass was für ein Verschluss“) und älteren Semestern („als ich jung war…“) Aufmerksamkeit erregt.
