Its a fine axe but the varnish on the handle needs stripped, then the shaft needs linseed oil or a similar oil applied. Also you need to sand of the paint they put on the eye and apply oil there as well. This is to stop the head loosening, Id say its a good beginner axe id take this hiking or camping in a heartbeat. just be ready to finish the edge when it arrives they didn't completely sharpen it, but a quick 5 minutes with a stone and strop and its all good.

lovely compact axe. Handy to have in your garden if you have a lot of trees or when camping. I used this when taking up some old stumps and after clearing around the roots this made short work of them and made taking up the stump very easy

Absolute workhorse! You will not find a better, more reliable forest axe for anywhere near as cheap as this. This is my second time buying this axe, it was on sale and I couldn't help myself. Highly recommended
