This rod seems fine for what it is, but there is misleading information on the Knives and Tools webpage that advertises this rod. Let me explain. The information at issue is a table. The table is interpretable as being about what grit levels one can use this rod with, i.e., what finishes the rod will not damage. Yet, in truth, the table is about _stones_ by Edge Pro - and thus perhaps not rods - and I did find the following. This rod ruins the finish put on my knives by a 3, 000 Naniwa Gouken Arata, even though the table gives one to think that the rod suits finishes up to 4,000 grit. Admittedly, Naniwa stones are known for acting finer than their nominal grit. Knives and Tools seems to sell no rod suitable for honing (or sharpening) a knife that has been finished on a 3, 000 + Naniwa stone. A final point. Often, rod handles - or parts of them - act as angle guides. No such function is advertised for this rod. It turns out that, if one angles the blade via the edge of the handle, the resulting angle is some eleven or eleven-and-a-half degrees.
