This sharpening stone is meant for use in an Edge Pro sharpening system 

**Grain size of the Edge Pro sharpening stones** The sharpening stones from the Edge Pro Sharpening system appear to be very coarse when compared to the Japanese sharpening stones. It is because multiple scales are used for the grain size of sharpening stones. An Edge Pro grain 400 is comparable to a 700 grit Japanese sharpening stone. And a 1000 grain from Edge Pro can be compared to a 2700 grit Japanese stone. When you keep in mind that you can polish with tapes with an Edge Pro grain 6000 you will understand that the sharpness you can achieve is unparalleled. It is, however, still guesswork to know what the exact similarities are. The Edge Pro stones are finer than you might initially think. Below an overview of the information we have gathered so far:
