Everything about the Japanese Higo no Kami pocket knife emanates tradition. In the past everyone in Japan, including school children, used to carry a knife like this. The Higo pocket knife was used to sharpen pencils and for many other tasks. 


The blade is easy to open with the 'chikiri' (the lever at the end of the blade). As is common for this type of knife, it doesn't have a lock and the blade completely disappears inside the handle when closed. 


## Carbon steel


Steel with a high concentration of carbon. It is very shock-resistant and also very tough. Some maintenance is required to keep the blade sharp, though. Fortunately, it's a very easy type of steel to sharpen. However, this steel is not corrosion-resistant.

Bueno compre esta navaja por su fama y historia,pero de calidad muy Justina por no decir mediocre,la apertura es muy ruda,los acabados son pobres aunque reconozco estas comprando algo artesanal,pero aun así creo se podría dar más calidad o al menos se le da mucha fama por poco a cambio,no me ha gustado 

I wish I had known about these knifes years ago. Small, light weight and sharp as ……….  Friction folder so they will never be a front flipper but they disappear into your pocket and you don’t know you have it until you need it. Completely UK EDC and I hope to treat myself to a few more as they are really satisfying to use and can be opened and closed one handed.

Très bon tranchant en sortie de boite mais les finitions laissaient à désirer... Il a fallu que je le martèle moi même tant le manche était écarté! Après, pour le prix difficile de se plaindre! C'est un des couteaux traditionnels indispensable à tout collectionneur.
