The **Rough Ryder Folding Hunter** is a large and cool pocket knife, with a classic hunting knife style. We have seen folding hunters from many different brands, but this one is particularly affordable. You open it with two hands and when opened the blade is locked by a solid linerlock.

## 440A steel

440A is a fine, popular type of steel. It is corrosion resistant and easy to sharpen. It won't retain its sharpness for a really long time, but this is compensated by the fact that 440A is quite tough and easy to sharpen. This means you only occasionally have to maintain it a little to make sure you always keep a sharp knife close.

## Black & Blue handle

The handle is made from Black & Blue Bone. This is cow bone that is enhanced with a texture and then coloured. Bone, of course, is a natural material. As such small differences in terms of colour and shape, or any other small imperfections may occur.

Rough Ryder Knives is a brand with a rich history. For over 25 years this brand is known for its excellent price-quality ratio. Like Theodore Roosevelt's Rough Ryders these knives were named after, these knives are ready to be used. The prices are very appealing. However, this does mean that the finish might not always be perfect. Nothing major, and definitely in line with the prices. In case of natural materials such as wood, bone and horn it is possible to end up with small scratches around the pins. It is simply a part of the deal in this price range.

Great knife bigger than it looks. Cuts and looks great. Only downside so far is that the spring/mechanisme is very though at the start, hope it becomes a bit more loose over time.

Bigger than expected! It‘s quite sharp out of the box and the lock sits tight. That handle is beautiful! Overall a very nice edc.

Meestal koop ik voor praktisch gebruik. Deze niet. Deze is te mooi. Die mag in de uitstalkast onder gedempt licht op een fluwelen bedje.

Niet dat dit geen praktisch te gebruiken mes is, in tegendeel. Het ontwerp is volgens klassieke Amerikaanse normen. Bruikbaar tot en met en 440A is een stuk beter dan 420J. Als dit mes met een vergelijkbare kwaliteit in de VS was geproduceerd dan was de prijs vast een factor of 12 hoger geweest.

Zo ga ik ‘m dan ook behandelen. Met eerbied en aandacht.

Of ik koop er gewoon nog 1. Voor die prijs?
