The **Rough Ryder Stacked Leather Bowie** is a large bowie knife. Originally bowie knives were used for hunting purposes. Today a bowie like this should be the highlight of your showcase. The handle is made from stacked leather rings. A technique that is over a hundred years old. A real plus for a knife in this price range.



## 440A steel


440A is a fine, popular type of steel. It is corrosion resistant and easy to sharpen. It won't retain its sharpness for a really long time, but this is compensated by the fact that 440A is quite tough and easy to sharpen. This means you only occasionally have to maintain it a little to make sure you always keep a sharp knife close.



This bowie knife comes with a stunning, decorated leather sheath.

Like Theodore Roosevelt's Rough Ryders these knives were named after, these knives are ready to be used. The prices are very appealing. However, this does mean that the finish might not always be perfect. Nothing major, and definitely in line with the prices. In case of natural materials such as wood, bone and horn it is possible to end up with small scratches around the pins. It is simply a part of the deal in this price range.

Auf den ersten Blick ein sehr großes, beeindruckendes Messer, aber im Bereich Parier wird es sehr schmal, ca. 11 mm von zuerst einer Klingenbreite von 45 mm, es ist also bei Beanspruchung sowas wie eine Sollbruchstelle, aber schön für die Vitrine.

Le couteau est plutôt mal fini et pas brillant comme on pourrait l’attendre de la photo, il n’est pas assez tranchant sorti d’étui, et le tranchant est très gros demandant donc beaucoup d’efforts à l’aiguisage et donnant peu de précision à la coupe…

Mais il faut lui laisser que pour celui qui cherche le couteau de « crocodile Dundee » a moins de 50€ il reste une tres bonne alternative. Il est en réalité bon marché pour l’objet que c’est mais une fois reçu finalement on ne sait pas vraiment l’utiliser. 
Pas mal pour celui qui veut ce couteau la en vitrine et couper 2 rondelles de saucisson à l’occase autour du barbec.

Enfin un couteau n’est pas l’autre du moins sur CE produit, j’en avais eu 2 un que j’avais renvoyé car la pointe n’était carrément pas finie et les dorures étaient dépolies. Le 2ème était cohérent pour son prix et pour ce que j’ai cité ci dessus. Je n’ai pas été convaincu, l’acier demandait quand même de l’entretien pour ne pas laisser apparaître de l’oxydation.

Il arrive avec un bel étui en cuir et l’objet est globalement beau, il faut lui laisser de nouveau pour son prix je n’avais pas trouvé mieux à l’époque.

Je n’ai pas possédé d’autre lame de la marque j’ai fini par revendre ce dernier d’occasion une trentaine d’euros.

Zo groot had ik ‘m in mijn stoutste dromen niet verwacht. Gigantisch en zo’n mooie glans, voelt ook prettig aan in hand.

Before I bought this knife I was a bit wary, I had read one or two reviews that said that the ones that they got from various places had been a bit shoddy. There was no such problems with this one at all, from openng the box I could see it was impressive. The quality is unbeatable at such a cheap price, it's sharp, straight, and well built,  and not too weighty. The handle is lovely, and the brass impressive. Overall, it's beautiful. I bought it to pput in a display box, but it's probably the most used knife in my collection now.
