The secret to sharpening is pick one of the many methods and stick to it until you master the technique. My weapon of choice is the ceramic sharpening stones of which Shapton are the best manufacturer. This 6000 grit is my intermittent stone used to flatten the backs of chisels and plane irons. From then on I use a 1000 grit and a 16000 grit for honing. A solution of Hone Write in the water to prohibit rusting and a good honing guide and you have everything covered. On a separate note concerning a different order I found the Customer Service of this website to be excellent. I will be using them for all of my future sharpening needs. 10 out of 10

As good as it gets.... I am a carpenter and have used this to sharpen chisels and planer blades. It gives an edge that is as sharp as a modern multi blade razor! So easy and quick to get an edge ... and you don't have the hassle of having to flatten it each time it's used.... I used a spray bottle with some water in it - meaning it is much more convenient than other Waterstones or Whetstones. Although it seems expensive ... it will last you a lifetime and takes the hassle out of the boring job of sharpening tools
