This **Skerper Flattening Stone** is a double-sided flattening stone with which you can easily flatten your sharpening stones. After frequent use you notice that your sharpening stones becomes a little hollow in the middle. To fix that problem you use this flattening stone! 

Of course it is even better if you use this lapping stone after every time you use your sharpening stones. You prevent your stone from becoming hollow in the first place, and you avoid the moment when you have to flatten the sharpening stone. Flattening a stone can be long process depending on how hollow the sharpening stone has become.

## Grain size Skerper Flattening Stone

Unique about this stone is that it is double-sided. One side has an extra-coarse 24 grain for flattening coarse stones with a grain size up to 400. The other side has a coarse grain of 220 for flattening stones with grain sizes ranging from 400 to ultra-fine (5000+).

## How to use Skerper Flattening stone

Add pencil stripes to the stone you wish to flatten and make it wet. Place the sharpening stone on a flat surface and place the flattening stone on the sharpening stone. Move the flattening stone in a circular motion over the entire surface of the sharpening stone. The sharpening stone will be nice and level once the pencil markings are gone. La première pierre s’est usée très très vite. Heureusement après photo et explication du problème à Knives and tools ils m’ont échangé le produit sans rechigner… 

J’aurais mis beaucoup moins si je n’avais pas eu une autre car pour le coup il aurait été plus intelligent d’acheter directement une pierre d’aiguisage neuve entrée de gamme. Je vais lui laisser la chance vu que j’ai pu faire désormais 2 pierres et suis rentré dans mes frais.

Waardeloos product. De steen lijkt wel zachter dan de wetstones. Slijt ontzettend snel en geeft een verschrikkelijk resultaat. Mijn wetstone is in alle richtingen bol en totaal onbruikbaar. 1 steen slijpen en de flattening stone is meer dan 90% van het profiel kwijt. Nooit meer.

Having successfully used whetstones and flattening stones previously, it was time for an update and I purchased Skerper based on the brand reputation for quality and the positive reviews.
Unfortunately, in the process of sharpening a set of chisels and flattening the whetstones in between sharpens as per the usual process and manufacturer instructions, this flattening stone wore unevenly and introduced a curve (top to bottom) on the whetstone.
I contacted Knives and Tools providing pictures of the issue, asking for this to be addressed, and have received no update, save a response to me chasing for an update. It's now been 10 days and still nothing. I have chased again, but don't hold out hope that this will be adequately addressed, if at all.
A shame.

Das Ding hat meinen alten Schleifstein wieder top hergerichtet. Es reibt sich allerdings recht schnell ab, nach einer Anwendung sind die Rillen schon beidseitig verschwunden. Ich würde also sagen, man kann 2-3 mittelstark verformte Schleifsteine (wenn einige wenige mm mittig verbraucht sind) wieder glatt hinkriegen, dann ist der Abrichtblock am Ende.
