The **Old Timer 3" Middleman 34OTW** is a low-cost slipjoint pocket knife, with a handle made from Desert Ironwood. A compact traditional with three blades: clippoint, sheepfoot, droppoint. You open the blades with two hands and when opened, a slipjoint locks the blade. No real blockage, more of a resistance. Because of this, these knives can be worn in many places.

 The handle of this pocket knife is made from desert ironwood. A luxurious type of wood you hardly ever come across in this price range. The wood has a rich pattern and the nickel silver bolsters complete the luxurious look. Old Timer has chosen 7Cr17MoV for the blades. This is a simple, stainless steel that is easy to sharpen.

 In the case of traditional multi-blade knives, the specifications are based on the largest blade.

 Old Timer belongs to Schrade Knives. They make great knives for good prices. Old Timer excels at that. There are few brands that can compete with these kinds of prices. This does, however, mean that the finish isn't always perfect. Not something to worry about, and in line with the prices.

Deze overtrof mijn verwachtingen! Ik had al zeventien Stockmans in mijn verzameling en deze kocht ik eigenlijk vooral uit nieuwsgierigheid. Afwerking is goed, de 'walk' is niet super maar wordt geleidelijk soepeler, de 'talk' laat zich duidelijk gelden! Er is geen 'bladerub' en de messen zijn gelijkmatig geslepen (met uitzondering van de 'sheepsfoot', die is wel scherp maar in mijn geval wat slordig geslepen).
Ik ben vooral gecharmeerd van de greepschalen, de voorzijde is niet echt bijzonder maar heeft een mooie nerf en is netjes afgewerkt. De achterzijde is als wortelhout en oogt bijzonder aantrekkelijk. Ze zijn ook lekker dik dus ondanks het kleine formaat ligt dit mesje goed in de hand.
Formaat van het mes is zeer vergelijkbaar met een Böker Barlow - de clipppoint is ietsjes korter dan het lemmet van de Barlow maar in ruil daarvoor krijg je een sheepsfoot en een pen-knife (afbeelding is niet het actuele model: speyblade is vervangen door een droppoint/pen-knife).
Hoe dan ook, wat mij betreft een absolute aanrader, zowel voor wie een goed klein zakmesje zoekt als voor een uitbreiding van de verzemeling!
