Buying a pen? The best pens tested and in stock
A good pen makes all the difference when it comes to writing pleasure. A design that has truly been thought through, a good refill, premium materials: these features elevate a 'regular' pen to become something special. There are pens from pocket knife brands, as well as pen brands that have found their way into the EDC world. We have tactical pens that can also be used to break a window in case of emergency, but also cool pens that have nothing to do with the tactical aspect.
How to choose a good pen
There are many factors to keep in mind, like different materials, but also purposes. Tactical pens, for example, are often enhanced with a glass breaker or can be used as a kubotan. But even within the range of 'regular' pens, there are many options.
Opening system
The most famous opening mechanism for pens is the click pen. You click the pen open by pressing on the back, and the tip appears at the other end. There are also pens that work with a twist mechanism, or a side-lock. And of course, there are pens that simply use a cap.
Different refills
It's also a good idea to check in advance which types of refills are compatible with the pen. The standard type that most people will be familiar with is the Parker-style refill. It has a standard size of roughly 98 mm long, and is produced by various refill manufacturers. However, there are literally hundreds of other types of refills available with different ballpoint diameters, types of ink, and so on. It can be nice to choose a pen that can handle multiple types of refills, giving you more options in the type of refill you can use.
